Dear WTQHA Members:

Thank you for another successful 2011 show season. If not for you, our exhibitors, we could not put on the 21 shows a year that we do. We have faced many challenges the past couple years with the slow economy and have tried everything we know how to enhance your showing with the best deals that we can.

However, just like all families and businesses, the economic downfall is having a negative effect on WTQHA. The 2011 show season has been challenged by increases in fees for arena rent, judges, and show management. Due to the extremely stressed economy, donations for the Youth Team and the Breeder’s Futurity are much more limited therefore making those activities more cost prohibitive. As with all other products, year-end awards are also being affected by increased cost.

The annual budget for WTQHA is usually around $150,000. This year in 2011 we were down to $118,000 in income and with increased prices and the flat rates on the events this year, makes for a very hard year to spend what we have in the past for year-end awards. The Board is working very hard to make sure you get great year end prizes with the monies available. But, we have to end each year with enough money to pay for the next year’s insurance and to cover the next year’s January show.

We, as Board Members and exhibitors, have tried the flat rate shows to enhance all the classes and help the exhibitors in any way that we know how. We are looking into something new for the 2012 show year to enhance our early shows so that we don’t have the weather problems that we have had in the past.

We are asking for the help of the membership. We need new input and new ideas. We especially need the input of the Stallion owners if we are to continue offering all the classes for the Breeder’s Futurity.

With these challenges in mind, Please attend the General Membership meeting on December 3rd, Saturday at 2pm at Jackson TN, Old Country Store. You may eat in the dinning room previous to the meeting and the meeting will start at 2pm upstairs in the “Jones Room”.  Please mark your calendars now!

The items on the agenda will be any proposed by-law changes, reviewing the previous year’s business, and electing a new Board of Directors. We have had a great Board this year and they have all worked really hard for WTQHA and a great Futurity Board as well.

Any member may submit a potential by-law change to be voted on by the membership at this meeting. The by-laws are posted on the website at WTQHA.com. If you are unable to get from the website and need a mailed copy, just call me.  Please submit any proposed by-law changes in writing postmarked by Friday November 4th, 2011 to this address:
WTQHA 785 Main St., Martin, TN 38237

Please word your proposed by-law changes very carefully as they will be voted upon as written. It is most important to get these proposed changes in by the November 4th deadline, so that we may mail them out to the membership for consideration and mail in vote, before the December 3rd annual meeting.

By-law change instructions: Please reference the article and section number of the original by-law or give the original language of the by-law that you want to change. Carefully word the way you want the new by-law to read. Remember we will be voting on what is written, so please be careful. Send directly to WTQHA 785 Main St., Martin, TN 38237 by the November 4th deadline!

The WTQHA Board of Directors for 2011 wants to THANK all of you for your participation, help and support for the 2011 Show season.
